AVAILABLE DOGS

     This is Trisha! She's a 3 year old Saluki mix originally from Oman. She came to the US in 2021. Her owner passed away & she sadly found herself with no one to care for her. Trisha is a super happy girl & is still very active! She'll need a fenced yard with at least a 5 ft fence & also a playful dog in her home. Because she plays rough, she'll do best with dogs at least 30 lbs & we'll say that she's probably not cat friendly either. 

She's currently being fostered in IN, but can travel for the right family! 

 The gorgeous Bea is also another podenco who’s been overlooked and needs a helping paw on her way to finding a forever family. She’s 4 yrs old and as sweet as they come. She has Project Berta to thank in Spain for rescuing her & giving her a safe place to stay. This funny girl will quickly take over your bed, if you let her! Bea is wonderful with other dogs & even cat safe! Sghe prefers dogs over 40 lbs though.

Bea however would like a quiet house with not a lot of people coming & going. She gets too stressed & protective of her family. Submit your application if interested in adding Bea to your family!

Sahara was overlooked in Spain at SOS Podenco Rescue & we can't undersand why! 

Unfortunately Sahara didn't have a great experience with humans in Spain so she's shy initially & will need a patient family who's willing to let her do her own thing in her own time. In 6 months, she'll be a totally different dog. We can guarantee the rewards of watching a shy dog blossom are truly worth the effort & time. 

Sahara is being fostered in eastern NC, but can travel for the right family.

 Dashing prince Jack is one of the lucky ones, one of a very few who will actually make it out of a shelter in Portugal instead of growing old & being attacked or passing of old age. We want to make a difference for Jack & find him a family of his very own. Jack is only 2 years old & as sweet as they come. He's great with other dogs, but we don't know at this time how he is with cats. A big thanks to our friends at Bring Portuguese Podengos to Light for bringing him to our attention & all the hard work on the ground there! Jack is great with other dogs & loves to snuggle up in a human's lap, if available. He's still a bit shy with men, but will come around in time.   Take a look at this little munchkin named Roma! What breed is Roma? We have no idea, her passport only lists her as a “mixed breed” dog. But what we do know is that she’s as adorable as can be! UPDATE: Roma is actually a German Terrier mix!

She’s around 18 lbs & great with other dogs & cats too! Roma was luckily taken in by our friends at SOS Podenco Rescue. Sadly she has very little chance of being adopted in Spain but the great news for her is that she had a family offer to foster her here in the US so she was able to come look for her very own family.  Introducing Cairo, the spotty boy with the kissy spot on his head. Cairo is a 1 year old podenco found abandoned on the street, but was lucky to have found our friends at SOS Podenco Rescue. He is shy with unknown people, but playful once he knows you. He is very social with other dogs & loves to play with them. Ideally he would need another dog to keep him company & he would do best with no men in the house. It would also be best for him to have a fenced yard and live in a fairly quiet area & at the moment he's still petrified with the leash & will need work to get him used to it. Smallish size, around 45 cm to the shoulders. Cairo is looking for a foster family to host him, or better yet, a family of his very own! Don't miss out on this stunning boy.
